A chauffeured day through Oakville, Rutherford and St. Helena with three appointment-only estates and lunch on a hillside terrace.
Overview
Napa has more than 400 wineries, and the best visits are rarely the ones with a big sign on Highway 29. Our concierge builds a route around what you like to drink, then books three appointment-only estates that usually need weeks of notice.
Your driver, usually Teodoro Ruiz, who has been driving the valley for 19 years, picks you up at the front steps in a Mercedes Sprinter or a Cadillac Escalade. Lunch is a long, shaded picnic at one of the estates, packed by Alder Table with cold roast chicken, garden salads and a lemon olive oil cake.
How the day unfolds

Depart from the house
Coffee for the road and a short briefing on the day's estates.
- 10:30 am
First estate: Oakville bench
A cave tour and tasting of structured Cabernet from old vines.
- 12:30 pm
Hillside picnic lunch
Packed by Alder Table, served on the estate terrace.
- 2:00 pm
Second and third estates
A family-run Rutherford winery, then a small Sauvignon Blanc producer in St. Helena.
- 4:00 pm
Back at The Alder House
Your bottles are carried in and chilled if needed.
