About Calistoga
At the north end of the valley, Calistoga has been a spa town since the 1860s thanks to the geothermal springs beneath it. The mud baths and mineral pools are still the main draw, followed closely by a laid-back main street and hillside wineries with big views.
It's a good full-day trip: a morning soak, lunch on Lincoln Avenue and a scenic drive back along the Silverado Trail as the light turns gold.
